I thoroughly enjoy being a CV Writer. It is an exciting role, and I like writing effectively for my customers. I have gained much job satisfaction, and I am fully utilising my writing skills. I relate to a variety of people, and have written CVs for a range of industries.

The CV writing process includes: communicating with customers, preparing a draft copy, agreement on a timeframe, discussing any edits required, and completing the final CV. The CV will articulate transferable skills and achievements. A well-written CV will give a job-seeker better interview prospects. My goal is to achieve such a result.

A job-seeker can feel confused about what makes a CV read by an employer. There are masses of information online, and there is advice given by trustworthy people. Some information could be useful, but some of it can be outdated. The job-seeker can feel stuck before applying for employment. CVs need to be relevant for each job vacancy. CVs are like a living document and a passport for shortlisting to an interview. I do continuous research to gain more knowledge to be able to write readable CVs.

The service I provide connects me with the customer, which generally has a short timeframe. Once the initial contact has happened, my next step is to review their existing CV. Then I call them back with recommendations and how I would update this information. The customer receives a draft, and they will advise me on any changes for consideration. A final copy is sent to the customer. I also provide additional services such as writing entirely new CVs and cover letters.

I received excellent tuition from the editing and proofreading course at NZIBS. My skills in grammar, punctuation, and spelling have vastly improved. I am grateful for the help I received while I was studying and the course renewed my enthusiasm for English. The information about starting up your own business was both enjoyable and pragmatic. The course helped me to venture into being a sole trader.

I am excited about my future. I think that CV writing is something I would like to do for the rest of my life. It is fulfilling to be involved in work in which I can operate as a specialist. I want to inspire people, and I can do this by writing notable CVs. An excellent CV can influence people to reach the next stage in life or career. It also helps people transition from college to work or for a promotion. I am happy to be a part of this process for my customers.

The positive feedback I receive from my customers makes my work very worthwhile. I have successfully enabled customers to transition from college to volunteer positions, to commence new roles, to opening employment discussions with managers, and to transfer to a new company. I celebrate each of these successes. It gives me the impetus to write much more.
