If there is one thing I love to do, it is to make up stories for my children. My imagination runs wild with ideas that I haven’t yet read anywhere before. So, it was exactly this month a year ago, on my birthday when I decided to take the plunge into Writing Stories for Children with the New Zealand Institute of Business Studies.
What a ride it has been. Juggling my study, along with my three small humans, my zoo of animals at home and some house renovations just to throw that in the mix has been challenging, but also the most fun and rewarding year. I am thankful for the support and encouragement of my loving husband and my kids who are my best critics.
I come from a Beauty Therapy background. I spent many years running my own successful business before having children and discovering my love for reading and writing children’s stories. For me, with two of my three children now at school I really wanted to do something exciting for myself. I knew it was going to be a challenge, but I am so glad I took that jump.
The course for me was amazing. Flexible study hours and an amazing tutor Janice Marriot who gave such great guidance and advice along my journey.
I love to write with humour and meaning. I love quirky characters and magic in everyday life. I am working on a few exciting projects that I hope to have finalised soon.
I love that with my writing I get to let my creative side out and experience different worlds within my stories.
I feel like right now the world of writing is my oyster and I look forward to holding one of my own books in my hands very soon.
