Which road are you on? Are you on the road to nowhere or anywhere? Can you see where you are going? Do you know how to get there? Do you know where there is? Do you even know or care what your destination looks like?

How many of us have a detailed idea of where we are and where we want to be; what we want and what it looks like! We are so caught up in the here and now we don’t have the time, energy or inclination to even contemplate the future. What are the consequences of not knowing what our destination is or how we are going to get there?

When going on a road trip, we plan, we work out our destination, the route and how long it’s going to take us. We make sure our vehicle has plenty of fuel and road-worthy before we leave.

We follow the planned route knowing exactly where we are going and how long it will take us to get there. We even have a map that shows us what the road looks like from beginning to end. When driving at night-time, we can still see where we are going because we use our dipped headlights, and are aware of oncoming traffic, potential congestion and hold-ups!

Why can’t we do this in our everyday lives? Why is it we either don’t plan or if we do we don’t work out the steps before we even begin, let alone check in with ourselves we are able to do it. And if we can’t do something find someone who can help us.

Using the travelling analogy, we would never get in a car and drive blindfolded aimlessly. And yet for some, this is exactly what happens. Perhaps we can pretend we are on a road trip, and plan our year, month or week in the same way we might driving a car to a destination; so easy when you think about it! So, what’s stopping you? Time to get started planning your route!
